Our hearts are overwhelmed with the incomprehensible tragedy that took place this week in Uvalde. I will be addressing these events, and how we should deal with them, in my sermon on Shabbat morning. I hope you will be able to join me.
Hakarat HaTov Corner This Shabbat afternoon at 6:30, we will have an opportunity to show Hakarat HaTov to the Berke Family, for all they have meant to our community for over two decades, at a special Seudah Shlishit event. The Berkes will be relocating primarily to Manhattan, though will maintain their Dallas residence and we will continue to see them regularly- for which we should also have hakarat haTov!
Rabbi’s Recommendation This coming Sunday is Yom Yerushalaim. Shortly after the reunification of Jerusalem, the great Chassidic composer Ben Zion Shenker composed a beautiful, heartfelt setting of the 14th blessing of Shemoneh Esrei, praying for the return of Jerusalem. It is sung here by the great Chazzanim and Baalei Tefillah Avraham Yaakov Taylor and Tzvi Weiss, the latter being one of the Chazzanim at the Jerusalem Great Synagogue. Listen and learn- I would love to introduce this poignant setting into our niggun repertoire at Shaare!
Wishing you all a peaceful, safe and elevated Shabbat. Sincerely,
Rabbi Ariel Rackovsky
