I am pleased to welcome Yehuda Rosenberg to our team as our Rabbinic Intern for 5782-5783. Yehuda earned his Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Applied Research from Yeshiva University, and is now studying for his Rabbinic Ordination at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS). Prior to his studies in YU, Yehuda spent time in several branches of the Chofetz Chaim system, including Yeshiva Toras Chaim in Miami and Valley Torah in Los Angeles. His professional experience includes working in an array of companies in the construction industry and in the back office of the New York Mets. Last year, he served as Rabbinic Intern at Congregation Talmud Torah Adereth El in Midtown Manhattan, where he taught classes on various Judaic subjects, officiated on Shabbatot and Chaggim and conducted lifecycle events. Since 2016, he has been the weekday Rabbi in Residence at the Ghermezian Minyan, in Riverdale, New York. In addition to his studies at RIETS, he is on the staff of the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA). Yehuda is a sought after Bar Mitzvah tutor, having prepared over 25 boys for the Bar Mitzvah. In his free time Yehuda enjoys competitive boxing, curing and smoking meat, and anything related to baseball. Yehuda and his wife Shira currently live in Teaneck, New Jersey and are excited to be joining us at regular intervals throughout the year. Their first Shabbat with us will be on Shabbat Parshat Ki Tavo (September 17) and they will also be joining us for Shmini Atzeret and Simchat Torah.
It is a great personal and professional privilege for me to be able to mentor Yehuda, and to train the next generation of the rabbinate in the same way I was trained by my own Rabbinic mentors. It is also a great honor for our shul to be selected to participate in a Rabbinic Internship. It is a sign of our prestige, professionalism and passion, and puts us and our community even further “on the map.” I hope everyone will welcome Yehuda and Shira into your homes, hearts and minds as you spend time with them and learn from him.
